Getting ready for some cold nights

All summer long we keep watch for any trees cut down or branches on the side of roads, in ditches, or in fields. There is something very satisfying cutting old trees up and stacking them for future use. With the economy the way it is and weather the way it is, we are comforted in this process. We know that if it got real bad and we lost electricity due to storms or if prices got too high, we have our wood burning stove to keep us warm. As it is now, we keep the heater on 69. It will turn on during the night in particularly cold spells. Other then that we use the stove for heat. The stove has a blower on the back end that does a pretty good job at blowing it out and we keep the ceiling fan in reverse to spread the heat through out. I look forward to lighting a fire in the stove for the first time in winter.

Sweet summer time post. Living in tune with the seasons, there is always something that needs to be done to prepare for the future.

Packing the woodshed in the heat of summer always gave me memories of the cooler months ahead and the countdown for Christmas.
