Painted Houses

I have been in love with the painted houses ever since I saw the first one a couple of years ago.  There is something so nostalgic and simple about them.  I searched and searched for them and when I found them they were way too pricey for me.  So when I saw unfinished paper mache houses at Hobby Lobby I bought them.  The most expensive one was only $5.99 and the greatest thing about it is they were on sale for half price, woohoo!  I always say NEVER pay full price at Hobby Lobby unless you absolutely have to have it as everything goes on sale at some point.  Here are a couple of my inspirations...
Swoon...

Oooo...

Aaaahh...

They are all soooo cute!!!

After I dropped the kids off at school today I got busy.

This is what I started with. I picked up a few little things in Hobby lobby like foam balls (snowman), hats for the snowman, glitter, wire piping, fencing, shingles (in the doll house section), and found the little fawns at TSC when I was picking up chicken feed.  I love that store too!

I used the shingles for the siding on the top part of the house, painted, and then glittered.

For the snowman I put a toothpick down the middle of the big part of his body and then his head.  I used another toothpick to hold his body while I painted glue all over him and rolled him in the fake snow.  I think I even heard him giggle *wink* and then I glued on his hat.

This is what it looked like when I was done.  I had so much fun I thought I would do another one only in a light green.  I added some fencing, wreaths, and a fawn and it was done.

I have two more unpainted ones left.  I can't wait to see what the girls do with them when they get home from school!!

Merry Christmas to you!

Today I am linking up with Tinsel & Company's Deck the Halls Friday.
