Gingerbread LADIES!!

Butterfly and I made gingerbread LADIES today!

We made one big batch of gingerbread, divided it in half, and formed our portion into GiNgErBrEaD LaDiEs.  The Christmas music was playing on the computer and we popped the movie Annabelle's Wish in the VCR.  Yes, I said VCR... we have had the movie for a while but it plays just as good as the day we bought it :*).

Here is the recipe we used

Gingerbread Recipe

1 C shortening
1 C sugar
1/2 C molasses
1/2 Karo syrup
(melt together on  low in pot)

Remove from heat and stir in:

1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 1/2 C flour

Roll out on cookie sheet, cut out, bake at 375 for 6-12 minutes for cookies.  But for the HuMoNgOuS ginger people we made, turn the oven down to 300 and bake for 15-20 minutes.

This is what Ginger looked like after we got ahold of her, lol.  YuMmY!!!!

Merry Christmas

Sounds like you had quite a fun day! The gingerbread ladies are adorable. Can these be saved for a decoration...like to put on a tree from year to year? I still have my VCR because I have a lot of tapes, but I also have a DVD player. Watched Home Alone on the television the other day. I never tire of Christmas cheer!! ;-) Have a nice rest of the week!
