December 2nd and homemade applesauce, mmmmmmmm

Today's matchbox comes from Marcia at vintagefrenchhen.  She has a lovely blog!  Thank you so much Marcia for such a sweet matchbox, I love it!  Inside the matchbox was delicately stamped linen, *swoon*.

Yesterday I made an apple pie for my sweet family.  While coring and slicing apples I noticed that some were not firm at all and I wanted to throw them to the chickens.  But then I remembered that I could make applesauce with them.   Here is what I put in the crock pot:

8 cored and sliced apples
1 cup of red hots
a couple squeezes of honey
1 cup of water
1 Tbs cinnamon

It was so easy peasy because I was already coring and slicing.  I threw the soft apples in the crock pot and the firm ones in another bowl for the pie.  When I was done I had 8 soft apples in the crock pot.  So I added the above and turned it on low.  I went to bed last night and woke up to the house smelling sooo yummy.  I gave it a quick stir and we had hot applesauce for breakfast.  Hubby and my oldest had apple pie too, lol.  It is never too early for dessert!

Merry Christmas to you and yours

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you say HI!
